English language challenges

My experience learning english at university has been fine. I learned the basics in high school and have had a hard time learning english over the years. I know a few "basic" words and the verb to be, but I have a hard time putting together well constituted sentences, especially when trying to have fluent english conversations. When I hear someone speak english I may understand, in general, but the detail is difficult for me to grasp. Using blogs has helped me to add more words to my vocabulary, but I have dropped the pronunciation. For me, blogs are a good tool to be able to talk about different topics in english and internalize the language in different subjects.  To improve my english, in terms of pronunciation and grammar, I watch movies and series that help me to understand and internalize it better. Although I always put the subtitles on, listening to it helps me to know forms of expression that are used in everyday life either to answer or ask different things, but bey...

The first thing that came to my mind with this theme was fruit. My favorite food is fruits, they bring so much and are so easy to eat. I love them because they are so versatile and surprising in their particularities. I love that there is so much variety, that when I eat each one I get a surprise, because none of them is the same. Each one has such a special shape, such magical flavors. I love the idea that it is the union between earth and water, and through it I can absorb so many vitamins and minerals that I don´t need anything else to be satiated during the day. I could definitely live on fruit. I think they are quite underrated and there is so much to access through them. They have been left as a snack or just a dessert, but I really feel like they should be the main course in our meals. In fact, if you are interested, there is a trend called hygienism, which proposes a diet that is based solely on eating fruits and seeds. And clearly it is not just a diet, but a lifestyle th...

Anthropology

I am studying anthropology and I like the way it is organized at the moment. We have 2 years of common plan, that is, all students take the same courses so that everyone has the same knowledge base, which I think is very good. Then, in the third year we choose between social anthropology, physical anthropology and archaeology. However, at the time of choosing a major I would have liked it to have been different. It is true that we all came with the same base, but that base lacked the tools for all the students to make up their minds about what they would choose. For example, in the first two years, there was very little subject matter related to physical anthropology. The focus was put more on social anthropology and archaeology, because they are the most chosen mentions.  Now, regarding the facilities of the faculty, I think they are quite good and friendly, although I would like it to be less of a building and have more green area. On the other hand, I feel that the technol...

Breaking Bad

It's not very difficult to decide which series or movie I would recommend, because I don't watch a lot of them. But when I do watch them I get really hooked and enjoy them a lot. I would recommend Breaking Bad, directed by Vince Gilligan. This serie is about a chemistry professor, Walter White who learns he has cancer, and in view of this and all the debts he has, he decides to start a new life as a methamphetamine producer with a former student, Jesse Pinkman. Everything that follows is an adventure on wheels, where different personal problems arise, with his family and with the same people involved in the business, since maintaining a job like that is not easy. Even more so if it is a world that is totally alien to him. He is presented to a new world that changes his personality and his attitude towards life. I like it because of the intensity of the story, because of the different emotions he goes through and because it also shows different realities of the world of the stre...

Best Holiday

My holiday! Before the pandemic, my family and I went on holiday every year. My dad likes to go on car trips. The first trip we took in the car was when we went to Argentina, I was 13 years old, it makes me nostalgic to see the photos and memories that remain from that trip. But, which have been my best holiday? When we went to San Pedro de Atacama in 2018. A really magical place, there are beautiful people, and the landscapes are incredible. We went for five days, and we went to an observatory where the stars looked amazing, to a hill of many colors that I don't remember right now how it is called, we went to the valley of the moon, to mars, where the wind hit so hard and the sand felt so good on our skins. It was an incredible feeling that I had not felt before. Feelings of peace, gratitude and well-being that I had not felt anywhere else.
